Hi,
I need a switch which will accommodate 32 x LC single mode fiber SFP modules. I've used smaller metro switches in the past with 12 SFP ports but am unsure about the Cisco range.
Could someone recommend a switch that could do this? I've seen the MDS 9148 but am unsure if I can utilise the ports this way.
Any pointers would be helpful.
Thanks,

Hi,
You can use a Cisco 5548. It comes with 32 1/10Gig ports. If you add the additional 16 port module you can go up to 48 ports. All ports are LC and you can use Multi-mode or single mode SFPs or SFP+. The switch is 1RU.

Is there any recommendation against Nexus 3K? For example 3172PQ (or even older ones, like 3064X) could match the requirements.
There's also the 4500-X...

You can also check out the new Cisco 6800 switches:

Let me know if you have additional concerns or e-mail (adawa@cisco.com) me directly. Kind regards.
