Cisco SG110-24 as extension for Fritzbox 7490 LAN (Germany)
I just purchased a Cisco SG110-24 to get mor speed in my private LAN and wanted to combine it with my router FRITZBOX_7490. But I have an issue that the switch routes the IP addresses properly when beeing booted. What kind of settings need to be made?
Once I managed it manually that both are operating OK, it lasts only until the next power up of the 230 V. That is annoying and not what I would like to have.
Does anyone of you mad a similar experience and which actions made the two units work together?
the SG110 is basically a dumb switch with nothing to configure and nothing to manage. I am not clear on what the problem is. How do you get both to work together ? What exactly happens when your problem occurs ?
the router FRITZBOX_7490 provides the IP addresses for the devices, manages the WAN and LAN, but the SG110 does not route them through, I can not ping the router from my PC nor any other device, I must boot the router and switch in a special order and connect the two devices manually so that the switch feeds through the IP messages. I know that the SG110 is a dumb device, I have already an unmanaged switch (100 Mbit for an other brand) which is operating as expected. The SG110 is recognizing all devices connected to it 1 Gbit or 100 Mbit, the LEDs are flashing... but not switching the IP addresses through.
I switch off the two during the night for some hours using a timer switch (hardware, to dis-/connect the mains supply 230 V).
I suspect an incompatibility of the physical layer used int the 2 devices.
thank you very much for your suggestions I looked for 1.) but could not find a menu to switch the MAC filter; for 2.) my router is always at the latest state of OS 3.) I did not try it.
BUT I changed now to the previous brand and hooked up a TP-LINK TL-SG1024 and it is running fine a since then. So I am pretty sure that it is an issue on the physical layer how the ETHERNET PHYs are harmonising.!
Sorry but that is the reality - I hope this feedback helps CISCO to look for the issue and find a solution. - Cheers! ;-)
