Can classic Cat 6500 line cards interoperate with fabric-only line cards (such as WS-X6516-GBIC or DFC3-equipped 67 series cards)?
Classic line cards connect to the shared bus only and the WS-X6516-GBIC or DFC3-equipped 67 series cards connect to the crossbar only. So, I wondering how packets can go between them...
Thx.

Thx. This answers my question. (BTW I meant 6816-GBIC fabric-only card in the prev. post.)
If the egress port is on a different nonfabric-enabled module, the DFC3 sends the packet to the Supervisor Engine 720. The Supervisor Engine 720 fabric interface transfers the packet to the 32-Gbps switching bus where it is received by the egress module and is sent out the egress port.
