10G NICs and CNAs dont typically recognize CoS markings...but I think with the advent of DCBx, they now do. Otherwise, how could they throttle traffic (based on a CoS) to support PFC? Also, they would have to know which traffic classes (also based on CoS) are part of the ETS scheduling algorithm. In fact, the Nexus 5Ks allow for ingress QoS policies that are broadcast to the adpater to inform it of the policy.....So how does it work?
In a vSphere 5.0 environment, traffic can be dot1p tagged, but the CNA will not recognize that tag - or does it now?
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
