Command to check switch

Hello experts,

I am newbie.

I have new switches, So which command are enough to check all about a new switch, excluded show inventory, show version?

Any help is appreciate,

It really depend on what you

It really depend on what you want to see, but in general "show run" will show you the entire config, port configuration, protocols, configured static and dynamic routing protocols and lots more.

Also, "sh ip int brief" will show a summary of all the interfaces that up or down.

The problem is that your question is way too vague. A Cisco switch, especially one like the 4500, can do a LOT of things. The best thing you can probably do is read the software configuration guide for each type of platform that you are planning to purchase. For instance, the link below is for the latest code on the 2960 and 2960-S family switches:

On the top of that you can get yourself a monitoring solution such as Solarwinds and monitor the health of every switch that way.

But how to know which is physical port will be problem with CLI?

I have a port without light and want to know what is root cause problem and the way how to solved that?
