I know it is not support by Cisco but I have heard that there is a

command(s) that will not "errdisable" the interface when connecting a 3rd party transceiver.

Thanks in advance,

Rich

Try " no errdisable detect cause gbic-invalid" .

regarding the "service unsupported-transceiver" command I learnt the following.  This command is intended as a last-resort to try to use a
third party Optic product to work with Cisco devices.  Cisco does not gurantee the working of the third party module with this command. If you
wish to use this feature, I would strongly recommend you to read the warning that will be displayed when you execute the command.

Warning: When Cisco determines that a fault or defect can be traced to the use of third-party transceivers installed by a customer or reseller,
then, at Cisco's discretion, Cisco may withhold support under warranty or a Cisco support program. In the course of providing support for a Cisco
networking product Cisco may require that the end user install Cisco transceivers if Cisco determines that removing third-party parts will
assist Cisco in diagnosing the cause of a support issue.

Here is a link that states Cisco's policy on third party modules and warranty information for your reference.

Thanks

Above link is dead. Is there a working one ?

The command "service unsupported-transceiver"  is no longer available, or at least with IOS 15.2(6)E on Cisco 2960L-24TK-LL.

Can anyone please advise what changed.

Yes,It not working in release 15.2

It probably works. It's just hidden.

If you paste the command your unit will probably accept it.

Life Saver! Yes the command cant be seen in autocomplete list but It works as a whole

Router-GW(config)#service unsupported-transceiver

If i insert a Finisar SFP 1G module in my catalyst 9200 switch, the interface going in "err disable" mode.

How to check the module compatible,  kindly suggest the command to check the module compatible.

Hi All,

I have searched and got the solutions for this issue, please make use of it,

# logging history error

#logging history warning

The result are:

1. SFP gbic-security check fail

2. interface status will be error disable

kindly find the attachment of the logs and errors.
