Committed acceess rate

Hi

I need basic configs for CAR between two routers connected on a serial cable point to point.

Re: Committed acceess rate

Hello Lawrence,

CAR can be applied inbound or outbound or both.

It can limit all traffic or it can reference an IP ACL that says what traffic has to be controlled.

link to CAR chapter in 12.4 QoS configuration guide

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/qos/configuration/guide/config_car_ps6350_TSD_Products_Configuration_Guide_Chapter.html

an example taken from that document

interface Hssi0/0/0

description 45Mbps to R1

rate-limit input 15000000 2812500 2812500 conform-action transmit exceed-action drop

ip address 200.200.14.250 255.255.255.252

rate-limit output 15000000 2812500 2812500 conform-action transmit exceed-action drop

the command template is:

rate-limit {input | output} [access-group [rate-limit] acl-index] bps burst-normal burst-max conform-action action exceed-action action

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Re: Committed acceess rate

Giuseppe's post, hopefully, should answer your question, but was curious why you believe you need CAR? Reason I ask, depending on what you're trying to accomplish with it, other QoS techniques might be better.
