I had an electrical maintenance when cisco were abruptly shutdown.

When it recovers configuration was different.  Many port had status disable 1.

Does anybody know what happened ?

Thanks in advance,

Rosa

Rosa,

Were you able to re-enable the ports?  Did they come back up successfully?  Can you attach a "show log" to see if there is any crashinfo.

Thanks for your answer.

In fact, this problem rises because CATOS do not write changes in memory by default when using "System configuration mode set to text."

Re: Configuration changes after abruptly shut down

I have seen this happen before on catos boxes , mostly the old 4006 boxes  and consider it either a bug or design flaw.  Not much you can do about it other than make sure you keep backup configs up to date and or put it on a UPS .  Seeing catos is basically EOL it's not something they will fix .  We used to see it happen once in great while when you got a quick power hit where the power goes out and  almost immediately comes back on , for some reason that affects the nvram and some or all of the config gets wiped out.

I'm not positive, but quite certain, since its been a while since I've run CATOS, ( and I do prefer it) but you have to do a wr mem when using text mode on CATOS.  I've been digging for old docs, the original sups I used to run CAT on I'd swap back and forth for troubleshooting purposes...

Eric

You can do a wr mem but you can also setup an automatic save within a predefined time period if you want.

Only binary mode does an automatic save straigt away.
