Need some guidance, I have a Cisco 2600 router I want to configure for routing traffic from a local lan and remote site to sites. The remote sites address are 192.168.53.0/24 and 192.168.54.0/24 the local lan address are 192.168.50.0/24 and 192.168.51.0/24. The router only has two interfaces on it. Do I need too purchase Hwics? or can I do something on the router to get it to route remote site traffic? Thanks... Joel
I have attached the proposed layout in other words thats where we want to end up if possible. Currently both site to site go thru the pix 501 on 192.168.51.253. So when I move the sites to site to the asa's the remote sites cant see the servers. I am thinking it is because the server lan is pointing to the 192.168.51.253 gateway. So the easy answer would to be to move the server to the same gateway but i cant as I have a PBX phone system I cant move as it would have to be reconfigured again to point to a new gateway.
They should point to the 2600 router as the gateway. This router should have static routes towards the ASA x.x.51.254 for traffic destined to 192.168.54.0/24 and ASA x.x.51.252 for traffic destined to 192.168.53.0/24. Other traffic, in other words - the default gateway in the 2600 should point to x.x.51.253.
The end-devices should point to the 2600 as the default gateway instead of the PIX.
This way, the 2600 can determine where to send the packets (acting as intermediate device). If the packets are sent to the PIX as the default gateway, the PIX won't be able to send the packets back out of the same interface it was received.
