Configure 6509 Switch to disable a chattering port

Hello,

IS there a way to configure a cisco 6509 switch ports so that if there is a bad switch or NIC card that is chattering and re-transmitting information, the corresponding port should be disabled.

You need to look at the Error-Detection command in IOS. Or possibly Storm Control for chatty NICs or B-Cast/M-Cast storms.

A word of caution. This will place the offending port in an Err-Disabled state. Requiring manual intervention if you do not configure an automatic recovery option with the error-recovery command.
