Confirming CLI commands before copying?

              Hi All,

Is there a way to confirm the cli commands inputted into a Nexus5k (NX-OS) Ver 4.1(3) N1(1), before copying it to start. The JunOS has a "commit check" command that will give a heads up if the commands you are about to put in are going to hose your network. The "checkpoint" function will get me back to an operational state, but, I would rather not have to dance while the network comes back to life.

Thanks All,

              Ron Clifford

Hello

Cisco also have a rollback back feature. This is initiated using the archive command

Once setup it will rollback any applied config if it isn't confirmed within a specified time period- I personally think it better than a schedule reload

However on certain iOS and hardware eg 6509-6513's iI have found it seems to not work as it should also am not aware of any cisco feature that will test your config is good prior to implementing as junos does.

Hi,

IOS-XR implements the commit feature and checks the validity of the config and it seems NX-OS does the same

Hi Ron,

unfortunately, commit check, rollback 1,2, 3, etc... are all part of Junos and not IOS or Nexus OS. With Nexus OS, as soon as you type a command and press enter, it will take effect just like the regular IOS.

Cisco is trying to add great features that Juniper has, but they still have a long way to go, because they have too many different OSs.
