NO,

you do not need a crossover cable to connect a router to a switch.

you need a 'straight through' cable. any typical CAT5/5E patch cable will do fine.

Sorry

truly I need to connect a wireless device to the switch

To connect a wireless device "RADIO" to the switch I need a crossover ?

Thank you

Hi Anky,

Yeah to connect wireless device to your switch you need a cross cable.

There is a way you can take decision yourself.

Always make the category of most commonly used devices like

Section A - Switch,Bridge,AP and HUB

Section B - Routers,PCs and Severs

Now any device which connect from section A to section B devices need a straight cable and any device if connected between same sections need a cross cable.

Do you mean the Access Point (not a wireless router) ? I believe straight cable should work. And most of the LAN switch can auto-detect MDI or MDI-X that there is no issue to use cross or straight cable. However, you have to check the LAN switch config. and use consistent cable.

P.S. If it is a wirless router w/ muliple LAN ports, you may use cross cable, because it acted as a hub.

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much

I connect de wireless device to switch using crossover and is perfect.

thank you very much to every body
