Connect three roters by serial ports - 10.0.0.0/8

Hello.

I want to connect three routers by serial ports. I have to use IP 10.0.0.0 and mask 255.0.0.0.

I configure interfaces on routers. R1 has two interfaces with IP:

R1-S0/1/0 IP: 10.0.10.1 255.0.0.0

R2-S0/1/0 IP: 10.0.10.2 255.0.0.0

When I want to add on second interfasec serial address R2-S0/0/1 IP: 10.0.20.1 255.0.0.0

I get message "overlaps with serialport 0/1/0".

What I make incorrect?

What is correct IP's and masc?

Please help me.

Kind Regards

Hi,

When I want to add on second interfasec serial address R2-S0/0/1 IP: 10.0.20.1 255.0.0.0

You can't assign the ip from the same segment/subnet to 2 different interfaces.

So, for interface R2-S0/0/1, you need a new subnet. Example: 11.0.20.1 255.0.0.0

Hello KS3 good afternoon!

Why are you using /8? you can use /30 for all your point to point conections, so you can use 10.0.0.0/30 (10.0.0.1 & 10.0.0.2) for the first point to point 10.0.0.4/30 (10.0.0.5 & 10.0.0.6) for the second and 10.0.0.8 (10.0.0.9 & 10.0.0.10) for the last one.
