Connecting Cisco 2950s.

Hi All,

i have many 2950 as edge switches in my current infrastructure.

The 2950s is stacked using giga stack cables and a loopback is done.

Recently there is a need to increase the number of ports. Cisco 2950 has EOL i believe. What switch should i purchase in order to connect the switches?

Is Cisco 2960 possible to connect to existing cisco 2950? (other than using cross cable; cross cable between switches seem to decrease efficiency)

Please advise.

Hello,

Only the few models are EOS. Not the complete 2950 portfolio. Please see the link below for more information:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps628/index.html

You can still order and get the 2950's listed above. You can use 2960's with 2950's but you can stack them using gigstack modules. You can only uplink the 2960's as they have SFP modules.

HTH,Please rate if it does.

2960 to uplink?

Can you explain how it is done?

2950 fiber connect to 2960?

what do i need to configure at 2950 and 2960?

I am using two 2950s for edge switches connected to 4507 core switches

The model of my edge switches is Cisco Catalyst 2950G 48 EI.

Or i have any suggestions on a new model that i can buy to increase the number of ports.

There is also a need for further expansion from the current revised setup.

Note: I am using VLANs in the switches.
