Solved: system crashed - writing core on router logs

Hi all,

Here is logs from 2650 router.

whats this error about -- is router going to crash or reboot?

What should i do next?

yes, see if you can load the IOS to the flash. Then change the config register to 0x2102 and reboot

Hi Mahesh,

when did you notice this error ? Was it when the router was live up and running ?? or during the router reboot??

are you able to see the the startup config using command "show startup-conf" ??

Thanks for reply.

I saw this error when Router was up and running..

After sometime i lost access to router.

then i console in to router and it was in ROM Mode.

I tried reset command few times.But no luck.

Then i rebooted the router but still it was in ROM mode.

After doing reset command few times it loaded the IOS.

Hi Mahesh,

For this issue. Have a look at this doc to make sure everything in your router is setup correctly. If not, I recommend downloading an IOS version without any security features and see if you still get the same error messages.

Hi Reza,

So far routers looks ok.

I downloaded this IOS c2600-adventerprisek9-mz.123-26.bin - as it supports MPLS.

Is this IOS version ok -- means no bugs,without security features?

Mahesh,

Ok, glad you have good version to work with. With IOS images, it is hard to tell, but as long as it is working don't touch it. Remember, 2600 series is pretty old, and may not support all the features you need, but they defiantly provide all the good basics.

i did reboot on router to clear the buffer failures log now routet is stuck in ROM

getting this error again and again

do i need to connect router int fa0/0 with straigh through cable to laptop?

Right now TFTP is on the Laptop and Laptop is getting 192.168.x.x IP from the switch.

You need a cross over cable to connect your PC/laptop to the router directly.

If you try it with a cross over cable and it still does not work, you need to use Xmodem to load the IOS

try deleting/erasing the existing files on the flash before loading the new one

Hi,

i use this option to download file to DRAM

xmodem -r c2600-adventerprisek9-mz.123-26.bin

once this is done then is there any way i can transfer from dram to flash?
