CPU Utilization

Hi All,

One of our LRE switch CPU utilization always goes up to 95% and because high CPU utilization, HPOV kicks ticket very often.

After reloading switch everything is becoming normal for couple of hours

Reloading becomes work around solution for us

I have noticed that ?LRE Control Chan? is using excessive usage of CPU

22 38684320 2088856 18519 58.12% 55.14% 56.89% 0 LRE Control Chan

So, if you have any suggestion and recommendation for this problem please revert back to me ASAP.

Regards,

Khan.

Re: CPU Utilization

Well, what version of IOS is your switch running?

Check for any possible bugs or major problem in your current code and see if you require an upgrade.

Please let me know your feedback,

Re: CPU Utilization

Hello,

Below you can find the troubleshooting steps:

1- Upgrade to the latest IOS. You current IOS is no more downloadable.

2- Check the ports status and check if there is high traffic on any port, or anything that is above usual limit and try to shut this port and see if the CPU drops

Let me know if the above works,

Re: CPU Utilization

Hi Mohammad/ALL,

May I know the reason for upgrade, I know its sounds like silly but my management would ask me the same question? Without finding any problem with current IOS how can we proceed for Upgrade?

It?s a LRE switch and could you please tell me the commands thru which I can find load on ports on LRE switch? Please advice.

Your valuable feedback will be highly appreciated.

Regards,

Khan

Re: CPU Utilization

Hello,

I don't want to put assumptions. I honestly have minimal experience on LRE switches. If you feel this is of high priority issue then I advice you open a ticket with Cisco and send them the show tec so that they can look into the problem.

Usually, when I have these kind of problems I first eliminate the software by upgrading the IOS. Therefore, the upgrade may not fix the problem but I take this step just to eliminate software issue.

Sorry for this limited support,

Regards,
