Please note the message that also shows up in the bootlog: "System received a Bus Error exception".

After reading this, I am afraid that you have a hardware issue. To troubleshoot, please remove all modules & WICs from the router. When it boots fine after this, the cause is likely in one of the modules. If not, it is likely the router's mainboard.

Hi ,

I have decoded the trace back and you are hitting CSCeg06349.i.e 2611XM: NM-1E fails to boot after upgrade to 12.3(10)

Following is the decode of trace back.

0x801243D0:xilinx_config_read(0x80124390)+0x40

0x80123898:pci_bridge_config_read(0x80123860)+0x38

0x80123078:pci_config_read(0x80123050)+0x28

0x800AA64C:pa_amdp2_4e__analyze_pa(0x800aa5c4)+0x88

0x80120B38:pas_analyze_interfaces(0x80120854)+0x2e4

0x80120C1C:pas_subsys_init_class(0x80120bf8)+0x24

0x80DD04B8:subsys_init_class(0x80dd0390)+0x128

0x806C5614:system_init(0x806c53e0)+0x234

0x806C5808:init_process(0x806c57c4)+0x44

0x80479E70:ppc_process_dispatch(0x80479e4c)+0x24

0x8047D3A8:process_execute(0x8047d1f4)+0x1b4

It is problem with NM-1E.

Details of the bug is : Customer upgraded 2611XM to 12.3(10) (c2600-ik9o3s-mz.123-10.bin). Post the upgrade the router constantly crashed at bootup when the NM-1E was inserted. The customer mentioned the problem does not occur in 12.3(9b). The same NM-1E also works fine in a 2610 running 12.2T code

So it is better remove the card from router and try to insert new card.

Hope it helps you.

Thanks,

satish

OK,

thanks for your fast answer.

But, I maybe stupid but what is the card NM-1E?

Hi Max,

Just remove the card from your router and see if it boots fine. If that's case then it is the problem with the card. As already posted by Satish, try some other IOS version as per the flash and dram on your router.

Hi ,

Can you paste sh diag of the router so that we can see what type of cards are installed in router ?

Hi Max,

Can you please update which image you were running before you started upgrade on this router?

HTH

Ankur

Hi Max,

AFAIK you sould upgrade IOS to one of the following releases 12.1.3T, 12.1.5T, 12.1(5)XM, 12.1(5)YB2, 12.2T, 12.2 , because support for 32 MBFlahs was first introduced in those releases. After the flash will be recognized you can download any image you need.

So you can see if replacing the card helps you or not and if not then try the IOS mentioned above and then upgrade to the one you want.

Ankur

Hi, thanks to all for your help.

I changed the board and now it's working fine.

But I have have one question: Do I have to change the IOS to an older version like 12.2(13)T?

Please find the log that some asked me (it's the log of the faulty router)

Regards

Hi,

No you dont have to change the IOS unless you are looking for some new software feature or some new hardware for the router.

HTH, Please rate if it does.
