1) CRC: Cyclic Redunancy Check, usually indicates a layer 1 problem, bits being corrupted in transit.  Every packet sent has a checksum that is computed by the transmitter.  If the checksum calculation does not match at the receiver, bits must have been corrupted so the packets are discarded.

2) A switch will drop a packet if it is corrupted, if there is no buffer space to receive the packet, or if any number of other error conditions occur

3) A switch will (generally) pick the primary address of the interface closest to the destination address for traffic originating from the switch.

4) Buffer memory is not a simple answer, see http://www.netcontractor.pl/blog/?p=538

What is the underlying problem?

crc errors also occur if half duplex and full duplex

mismatch

2. if cable is faulty and also in case of lan card is not functioning properly

kindly rate the post if info. is helpful
