Default for CEF on Switches

I have been reading and reading and trying to figure out the defaults for 'ip cef' and 'ip cef distributed' on Catalyst Switches.

i.e. 3750, 3560s, 2950s, 2940s, 4500s and 6500s.

Wouldn't/Isn't the default that Cisco Expressing Forwarding is enabled.

The command references as well as the command lookup tool are very elusive/cryptic regarding this IMHO.

It should just be stated clearly.

Can someone tell me and assure what the story is and

what the defaults are for 'ip cef'?

Thanks

Re: Default for CEF on Switches

Jim,

This is from Cisco IOS command reference:

Command Default

Cisco Express Forwarding is enabled by default on most platforms. To find out if Cisco Express Forwarding is enabled by default on your platform, enter the show ip cef command.
