Dependent Ports

Hi all,

I have cisco catalyst 2960S switch. In this switch I have created the vlan 10 with member ports Gig 1/0/1, Gig 1/0/2 and Gig 1/0/3. What I want to configure is as follows.

- If any one of the port of this vlan 10 is turned down, then I want to shutdown entire vlan

- If Gi1/0/1 is turned down, then I want to shut down Gi1/0/2.

Is there any solution for this

Kind Regards

Arbin

Dependent Ports

Hi Arbin

There is an EEM ( Event Manager Applet) in Cisco IOS which is avery handy and useful programming tool available for doing conditional actions..

Below are two useful links..More you can look over Internet for CIsco Documents

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/iosswrel/ps6537/ps6555/ps6815/whitepaper_c11-492226.html

I was wondering what was the network setup and traffic requirements which required such conditional actions as stated above.

Hope this helps to answer your question.

Regards

Varma
