DHCP almost brings the vlan to a stop...

Hi,

We have a PC that when plugged into the network sends out so much DHCP traffic the network grinds to a hault.

There were a few trjans on it, we cleaned it but it still casues the problem when plugged in. We have also scanned it for malware.

Has anyone experienced this before?

Re: DHCP almost brings the vlan to a stop...

Hi Jamie,

Sounds to me like the machine could possibly still be infected. DHCP DoS attacks are pretty common with infected machines.

My suggestion would be to reimage/reghost the machine and see if that helps.

I will also keep researching to see if there is anything else that could be causing it.

Thanks!,

Ed

try taking a capture on the pc when u connect it in the network... will come to know what protocol is causing the issue... also check services.msc if it is a windows machine..
