Re: dhcp and bootp

Hi,

The bootstrap protocol (BOOTP) is a host configuration protocol developed before DHCP. DHCP improves on BOOTP and resolves specific limitations BOOTP had as a host configuration service. RFC 951 defines BOOTP.

so do any pc's etc still use bootp ?

Re: dhcp and bootp

Hi,

AFAIK, BOOTP was intended for diskless workstations with limited boot capabilities, accordingly i don't think that modern PC support it.
