DHCP in one environment

Can anyone tell me that how many DHCP servers can be implemented in a LAN environment like primary seconday and sometimes I have seen even a third DHCP server. So how many DHCP servers can be used in an environment ?

Hello,

I don't think it is a good idea to deploy at most one primary and one backup DHCP server, the reason being that you cannot control which server dishes out which address, unless you split the scopes, and splitting the scopes in more than two can become tedious.

So, two (primary and backup) should be plenty...
