Trying to build up a test lab. I have three routers connected via serial cable.

Router 1---------------------

10.20.20.10               I  10.20.20.11 s1/0

                              Router 3

                                 I  10.20.21.11 s1/1

Router 2---------------------

10.20.21.10

All have a subnet of 255.255.240.0

Only When I do a "show ip route" i get:

     10.0.0.0/20 is subnetted, 1 subnets

C       10.20.16.0 is directly connected, Serial1/0

                   is directly connected, Serial1/1

C    192.168.1.0/24 is directly connected, FastEthernet0/0

Why am I not getting Serial 1/1 to show as "Connected"

Thanks

Hi,

You need a static route to ping R1 from R2.

Regards.

Alain.

ah, figured it out. had to interfaces on the router within the same subnet range. I changed serial 1/1 to have an ip of 10.20.33.11 and it showed as that subnet is connected.

I would have thought I would have been able to ping Router 1 from Router 2 after I got the link "connected". Does this not populate the tables to do this?
