Do you save switch config txt files ansi or unicode

I apologize in advance for such a simple question.

I am creating backup text files for many of my old out of support 2828 and 1900 switches.

The way I'm creating the backup file is to telnet into it, do a sh run and then mark it and copy it into notepad. I then save it a filetype txt

Here's the question. When I save the file..it wants to know whether to save as ansi or unicode. It warns that some information may be lost.

In particular this seems to affect the markers for the banner in the config

I have been using ansi but want to make sure before I do a bunch this way.

The intent is to be able to use the .txt files to put a replacement back out if we were to lose the device.

I don't want to make backups incorrectly and find out later that I can get them back on the switch.

Many Thanks for replies

Ansi/Unicode config file is not compatible now, because of we encoding string as UTF8 to config files. The Unicode version is faster now, I recommend you use unicode version except you using Windows 9X.
