Does Router verify each & every packet while URL FILTERING is enabled?

Hi,

i have enabled url filtering for 2 domains for denying access & rest are permitted, so does it mean that when ever even a permit host packets is also verified by the router & will the router take some process time for that verification & get over burden?

Hi Anand,

It depends on how you have configured the router for the inspection. If you are matching all the subnets you have then it will do it on all the traffic. You can configure it for Per user, IP segment using access-list.

ip inspect name URL_FILTER http java-list 2 urlfilter

ip urlfilter allow-mode on

ip urlfilter cache 5

ip urlfilter exclusive-domain deny chatenabled.mail.google.com

ip urlfilter exclusive-domain deny .meebo.com

interface fastethernet 0/0

ip addres x.x.x.x

ip inspect URL_FILTER in

access-list 2 permit any
