DR or BDR ? which one is elected 1st in ospf process ?

Hi ,

Can anyone tell me which is elected 1st a DR or BDR ? Can anyone explain in detail how this DR election goes in ospf process packet wise ?

Hi

a DR is elected as follows:

- which router has the highest router-id? highest router-id becomes DR

- if no router-ids are configured, which router has the highest (best) loopback ip address, highest loopback ip becomes DR

- if no loopback address configured, which router has the highest ip address? Highest ip > DR

So a BDR can only be elected after a DR has been elected.
