Hi all, if I have a port running half duplex on a wan port, what performance degrade would occur, would this slow things down quite alot ?

Hi Carl,
Yes, you will see a lots of collisions and errors on the ports running on half-duplex. This would certainly degrade the performance of the traffic on the port as when collisions are there the other end device adds a little transmit delay to resume the traffic back on the port.

hi carl... putting a WAN port in half duplex will certainly slow things down if more users are using the link... It all depends on the link speed and how many users are using it....
if you want to keep half duplex configure it on both sides because sometimes packets may be dropped due to duplex mismatch...
hope this has helped you...
