E1 PRI link between CME on 2621 and CME on 2821

Hi all,

I was wondering if someone could give me some help on setting up an E1 PRI link between a 2 call manager expresses?

I have a CME on a 2621 and a 2821.

I have phones registered to both of them and there is an E1 card in each router connected using an E1 cross cable. the E1 is up and good.

my e1 card in the 2621 is controller e1 1/0 and the nm-hdv has 5x PVDM-12. the 2821 is controller e1 0/0/0

On the 2621 the telephone is a 7912 and is number 6000, the 2821 has 2x 7961 phones and they are 5000 and 5001.

2621 has a dial-peer voice pots

destination-pattern 5...

ports 1/0:15

the 2821 has dial-peer voice pots

destination-pattern 6...

port 0/0/0:15

Is there something I am missing? I've not done much with TDM really only CAS circuits and PLARS.

This is only in my lab and I have set it up to learn more about it.

Thanks.

Hey guys,

Sorry it's taken a while for me to get back to you all. I've had to use firefox to be able to post as IE wouldn't let me comment. the box was greyed out.

Ok so I've fixed this now. I ripped out my config for the voice stuff and re added it. I was the presented with a problem where on the 2800 when I dialed 6000 which matched my dial-peer voice 2 ports of destination-patter 6... what happened was I would just get dial tone and then had to redial the number again with the dial tone present and that was passed over the E1 and it worked. The 2621 CME was no issue.

Basically on the 2821 I forgot to add my direct dial inwards to the dial peer.

I'll post my configs here in case anyone else would like to do the same as me. You don't have to have CUCME, you can still use my config sample if you have H.323 gateways between two CUCM's

Ok this is the 2821.

This is the E1

controller E1 0/0/0
clock source internal ----- It will be providing the clock
 pri-group timeslots 1-31
!
controller E1 0/0/1

and this is the serial

interface Serial0/0/0:15
 no ip address
 encapsulation hdlc
 isdn switch-type primary-qsig
 isdn timer T310 120000
isdn protocol-emulate network   ---- This part is important if you're connecting to another router

 isdn incoming-voice voice
 no cdp enable

dial-peer voice 2 pots

description To CME 2621
 tone ringback alert-no-PI
 preference 1
destination-pattern 6... - anything starting 6 with plus 3 digits gets routed out this E1
 direct-inward-dial
 port 0/0/0:15
forward-digits all         ------- The part I forgot to add!

For the 2621

controller E1 1/0
 pri-group timeslots 1-31

the clock source is set to line, framing is crc4 and linecode is hdm3. obviously both ends use the same linecode and framing.

interface Serial1/0:15
 no ip address
 encapsulation hdlc
 isdn switch-type primary-qsig

isdn protocol-emulate user
 isdn incoming-voice voice
 no cdp enable

dial-peer voice 1 pots

tone ringback alert-no-PI

description To C2821 CME
 destination-pattern 5...
 direct-inward-dial
 port 1/0:15
 forward-digits all

Joseph,

+5 to you :)

Well spotted both the clocking , Net--User & DiD
