eapol and 802.1x

Hi all, is eapol and 802.1x the same thing? is this easy to set up on my switches ?

Hi Carl

EAP Over Lan (EAPOL) are the packets sent by the client that is using 802.1x i believe. It is pretty simple to setup on your switch but you will require a radius server.

This can be MS IAS, free radius or cisco ACS Server. You can download a try of the ACS server from the dl section.

You should take a look at the IBNS SRND which covers the protocol and different authentication methods.
