EIGRP in Broadcast Medium

Hi,

I am confused in a very basic concept. That is..

OSPF uses DR/BDR election in Broadcast medium like LAN

How EIGRP handles this situation. Whether it will create membership with all the Routers in the LAN?

Can you please explain this.

Hello R.B. Kumar,

EIGRP will build adjacencies will all routers in segment.

EIGRP misses a DR concept.

The reason why a single device cannot be a reference for all devices in segment is that EIGRP has some distance vectors features like spit horizon:

a router will not advertise out interface X what has learned from interface X.

For this reason a new router needs to build neighborship with all routers in the lan segment to be sure to get all routing information.
