EIGRP SIA

Hello,

When a route becomes Active the router queries its neighbor. It waits 3 minutes (by default) and if it doesn't get a reply for every query the route becomes Stuck in Active.

What happens with the route after it becomes SIA? How log does it remains as SIA?

Does the querier router clean the route from topology and forget about it? When?

Thank you

Re: EIGRP SIA

I find this URL very useful on understanding EIGRP SIA:

Please read it and come back if you still have any questions.

Re: EIGRP SIA

A router with a route in SIA waits to hear replies from its neighbors for the prefi. If it doesnt get to hear any replies, then the router resets its state with neighbor in order to check if the other router is downor is this a lost route.

Ofcourse the router has to flush the route from its routing table if it doesnt get a reply within certain period. I dnt exactly remeber but have probably read that this duration is 300sec.
