Can someone direct me to documenation of what the downside is of running stub. Especially if it was in an environment prior to the licensing changes and running full eigrp. What is the implication if it has more than one neighbor?

thx as always.

Hello Whanson,

the EIGRP stub router does not pass routes learned from one neighbor to another neighbor, so no EIGRP router can be downstream of it.

It is good for remote offices or in any case where there are no routers downstream on the leafs of your topology.

EIGRP stub is a feature that had been introduced as a way to control EIGRP Query propagation. Then in the licensing schema of multilayer switches Cisco started to deliver EIGRP stub only on lower feature set

Hope to help

Giuseppe
