Enabling a Fast Ethernet port in 2950

The status of the fast ethernet port is showing err-disabled.So I need to enable a port in cisco 2950 switch.Kindly let me know how to proceed.

Hi Friend,

You can simply shut and unshut the port and it will come up. But it is better to find out what is the reason for the interface going into errdisable state.

Can you check the logs and see if it tells you the reason? If logs does not show you you can configure errdisable detect command to detect the reason.

issue the following commands for example for Fa 0/1

Switch#

configure terminal

interface Fa 0/1

no shut

end
