error-disable on the switch port

Hi All,

Does anyone know what does this mean?

FastEthernet0/11 is down, line protocol is down (err-disabled)

The system has many reasons to errdisable a port ;) Read command ref. about "errdisable detect cause" command.

You can turn off error disable feature with command

no errdisable detect cause all

You can also turn on error disable recovery with command

errdisable recovery cause all

you can also do a shut and no shut to the interface to recover from error disabled condition

Hi,

This is a general error condition when a port has been disabled by the Catalyst Switch.

Maybe this is a STP or ARP Security issue.

You could use something like this to enable the reporting of more specific cause that disable the port

(config)#errdisable detect cause
