EtherChannel/trunking On Catalyst 3550

Hey I was wondering if i configured two trunk ports on my catalyst 3550  woul the switch use both simultaniously  or will i need to configure etherchannel  on the trunk ports and if so what would the configs look like. Thanks.

Roberto,

The only way to load balance across trunk links would be to create a channel-group on those ports.

You could try the following config:

int range fa0/1 - 2

swit trunk encaps dot1q

switch mode trunk

channel-group 1 mode desirable

int po1

swit trunk encaps dot1q

switch mode trunk

channel-group 1 mode desirable

The other side also has to be configured for an etherchannel in order for the link to work. Desirable/Auto enables pagp in Active/Passive (respectively). For lacp, you can use mode Active/Passive for Active/Passive respectively.
