3560-1 --- connected to NIC-1 of Server-x

3560-2 --- connected to NIC-2 of same Server-x

                How do we make a port-channel/ether-channel ???

Asking, coz to my knowledge ether-channel is for the ports on the same switch, not on different switches. Purpose here is to give HA even on the NIC level.

Hi Mohsin

you are right.. As far as i know , you need to have stacking (like 3750's) or VSS (in 6500) to virtualize the switch as a single chassis, to have etherchannels shared between switches.. with 3560's it is tough.. have the NICs on active/passive if you are on 3560's since an active/active NIC might cause lots of spanning treee TCNs to be generated, which can cause high CPU issues...

Hope this helps..

Hi,

Yes you can make port channel in same switch for single server to increase the bandwidth pipe for that particular server, check out the below configuration hope this helps out your query.

Just make channel group mode to on state

interface GigabitEthernet5/12
description connected to Database server
switchport access vlan 220
switchport mode access
channel-group 14 mode on
end
