I need to extend a vlan on a core switch to another site. The 6500 connects to 3800 router which has p2p connect into another 3800 router - i'm struggling with what options are avialable...

Re: Extend VLAN across a ethernet extension ciruit

hello Craig,

you can consider L2TPv3 vlan based if the link is a WAN link

see

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_3t/12_3t2/feature/guide/gtl2tpv3.html

vlan based

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_3t/12_3t2/feature/guide/gtl2tpv3.html#wp1043064

you can have L3 routed subinterfaces and subinterfaces that are used for L2 transport.

Clearly the performance limitations are those of the two C3800.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
