The following error was seen on the switch and the Diagnostic Test Loopback failed following a new WS-6748-SFP module installation.
%FABRIC-SW2_SP-6-TIMEOUT_ERR: Fabric in slot 5 detected excessive flow-control on channel 3 (Module 4, fabric connection 1)
Tried Hard reset of the module and still the error persist.
Any idea on this..?
Switch is running 12.2(33)SXI3

Is this a 6509?
What happens when you move this module to a different slot?
SXI3 is a few years old. Can you try loading a newer IOS version?

Hi Rameez,
Usually, fabric errors would be transient channel syncronization issues, which may happen during swithovers and OIR Insertion of other line cards. The process is being handled by the channel firmware which will recover automatically.
The best action plan to follow:
1) pull out the card in slot4, inspect the line card and the chassis pins.
2) insert the line card firmly into th chassis.
3) if the issue persists, cosole the module and see if any errors are being reported there.
Plz let me know on how th previous goes with you.
Good luck

Done these. No use

2) insert the line card firmly into th chassis.
3) if the issue persists, cosole the module and see if any errors are being reported there.
Went on for a TAC.
Suggested for replacement of Chassis and Supervisor.
