FabricPath STP Root Bridge

One of the guidelines and limitations when configuring FabricPath from this doc

The Cisco Nexus 5000 Series device cannot be the STP root bridge or have any designated nonedge ports in the STP topology.

However, in the same document, a little further up it says:

As a best practice, you should configure all edge devices with the lowest STP priority of all devices in the STP domain to which they are attached.

What if I have a 5K as my FP - CE edge device? Even the FP Lab on PEC has a Nexus 5K as the leaf edge device. I'm a bit confused, when does that limitation hold true? Is it only for certain design use cases? Or does Cisco mean a 5000 (as in 5010, 5020) cannot be an STP root bridge, but a 5500 can?

Thank you
