Hi,
We have a lot of catalyst 2950EI switches. We stack them with WS-G5484.
There are two versions 30-0759-02 and 30-0753-01.
In a Catalyst 4506 these work both, but when I use the 30-0759-01 I get an error when placing the GBIC into the 2950EI.
Error message is %GBIC-6-SERDES_SERIAL_INV_DATA: Unrecognizable GBIC found in Gi0/1 (se
rial data 0xFF)
IOS image on 2950 is c2950-i6q4l2-mz.12.1-22.EA8a
The 30-0759-02 version works fine.
What is going on?
Thx,
Marc

Where did you get the faulty modules?
I know there are counterfeit versions of the WS-G5484 around. Have you verified they are genuine?
The counterfeit modules give problems in many types of switches. If you bought the modules via an authorized reseller you can request an RMA, otherwise there will be little that can be done about this.

Hi Leo,
Where can I see that the modules are genuine Cisco?
I have them from an authorized reseller. But the modules work in a catalyst 4506 so must I request an RMA?
Thx,
Marc

If you are having any problems with genuine cisco products, you should always contact your reseller.
