GBIC

Hi Friends:

I have some doubt to find & confirm the part number of a GBIC port module. On 6509 switch we have a SFP module (WS-X6724-SFP). I want to know the part number of the GBIC port inserted to it. Whether it is a SX or LX type.

This switch is in remote location. Thats why I couldn't check physically.

Any suggestion here pls?

Thanks!!

Arun

Thanks Jon,

So the exact part number will be GLC-SX-MM?

Regds.

Arun

Yes that should do it, this is the standard connector for multimode fibre connection.

yup the part number will be GLC-SX-MM

Check this you will get all the information regarding the SFp connectors :-

Hello Arun,

that is a linecard and SFP can be different on each port

use show interface status on the righmost column it will give you for each port the type of GBIC installed

example:

T-TO-CRN-SF-E-1>sh int status

Port         Name               Status       Vlan       Duplex  Speed Type
Gi3/1        Link -> XX-CRN- connected    10           full   1000 1000BaseSX
Gi3/2        XX-SM-C-3   connected    trunk        full   1000 1000BaseSX
Gi3/3        XX-SM-C-1g1 connected    trunk        full   1000 1000BaseSX

Hope to help

You need an SFP type connector, see this page for details -

"Show interface " will give you this result as well as "sh idprom int "

Arun

You want SX - from your interface output -

Full-duplex, 1000Mb/s, media type is SX

Jon

Thanks Jon,
