What are you trying to accomplish?  Are you looking to start HSRP, GLBP, or VRRP?  Need some more info.

Thanks to everyone for the responses,

then HA = High Availability

I would make sure that in case of fault of the 4500 primary function automatically the secondary (configuration Active / Passive)

The IOS version is as follows:

Cisco IOS Software, Catalyst 4500 L3 Switch Software (cat4500-IPBASEK9-M),Version 12.2 (46) SG, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

ROM: 12.2 (31r) SG2

Cisco WS-C4507R-E (MPC8245) processor (revision 10) with 262144K bytes of memory.

Processor board ID FOX1218GP6K

MPC8245 CPU at 266Mhz, Supervisor II +

Define "HA"?

You're not talking about VSS are you?  If you are, then you need to wait.  The new IOS to VSS a pair of 4500 chassis with Sup7E will be released around September 2012.

Sounds like HSRP to me.

You also may want to consider configuring EtherChannel as well.

thanks for the advice,

It arrives in June and I will update you

Hi leolaohoo,

I have the same case with my switch and i did the Etherchannel seeting as below

I need your kind support to troubleshoot my new setup,

the setting of the up-link interfaces as below:

plz find the blow seting for the up link interface on  SW_A

interface TenGigabitEthernet2/1
switchport mode  dot1q-tunnel
channel-protocol pagp
channel-group 1 mode desirable

and the below setting on the interface for the SW_B

interface TenGigabitEthernet2/1
switchport mode  trunk
switchport nonegotiate
channel-group 1 mode on

Please advise,

Thanks in advanced for your effort,

Switch A has "channel-group 1 mode desirable".

Switch B has "channel-group 1 mode on".

This is the reason why your etherchannel won't work.

Hi leolaohoo,

many thanks for your quick reply,

I will do changes on this so please advise me for the below:

1- what type of channel-group will be better "on" or "auto"

2- do I nee to enable the VTP on both switches?

thanks in advanced for your effort,

1- what type of channel-group will be better "on" or "auto"

Depends on the clients or servers.  Normally, I'd configure them as "ON".

many tnx Leolaohoo,

i will try to do it as on mode,

what about point 2 please advise,

thanks in advanced,

2- do I nee to enable the VTP on both switches?

Do you want to create, delete VLANs?  If you do alot of these then enable VTP.

Normally in our network our VTP is in "Transparent" mode.

i just see you reply,

many thanks so it's work for me also, because i need to edit a lot of vlans,

is this will save the time for me so if i did it on one switch i can see it on the other also with out repeat the same steps on the second switch?

dear leolaohoo,

by the way the VTP are in transparent mode on both switches

vtp mode transparent

thanks in advanced
