Hi All,
Am working with Cisco 4000 L3 Switch IOS ver 12.2
I am finding runts error on most of the Gigabitports. All the interfaces are in 100 mbps Full duplex. But when I execute "Show controller" it gives the following output.
=========================================
#show controllers
Dagobah MAC:
MAC address:
Restarted: 1
Rx packets: 2966220
Rx packets reported by hardware: 2966220
Rx error count: 0
Rx engine restarted: 0
Tx packets: 2966219
Tx packets reported by hardware: 2966219
Currently queued Tx packets: 0
High watermark for Tx queue: 6
Tx error count: 0
Dropped Tx packets: 0
Internal error count: 0
Interrupt count: 5686554
Link events: 1
Count of Phy polls: 5725833
Count of postprocessing: 5686555
Phy status: 100Mb Half
My confussion is in this what is meant by "Phy Status: 100Mb Half"? Is any relation with individual interface speed and duplex...will it affect the switch performance..? is any relation for runt errors..?
Please help me on this.

Hi,
Try to put both interfaces on FULL DUPLEX
and do a clear counters on the interface ...
and see if the errors are still comming up ...
Also try another interface

The ports are already in Full Duplex. But in "show Controller" output it showing "Phy Status: 100 Mb Half.
how to change it to Full duplex...?

Are you sure your cabling is correct? DTE to DTE is crossed, DCE to DCE is crossed, DTE to DCE is straight.
What is the port or module exact model?

Hi,
Its Switch, I belive there is no DTE / DCE interfaces.
The Server is connected on Gigabitport. The port setting is 100 MB Fullduplex.
Eventhough the ports were configured as 100 Mb Full...the controller showing "Phy Status: 100 MB half"
Here what is Phy Status? is any common configuration for the switch if so how to change it to Full DUplex....?
Please let me know if you need any other information.

As mentioned, can you post the exact port model or network module of the switch that show Phys Interface 100 half?

i know this is a OOOLD post - but to answer your question this EOBC port is a half duplex channel:
The Ethernet Out of Band Channel (EOBC) is a half duplex channel that services many functions, which include the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and the packets that are destined for the switch. In order to ensure constant communication, some keep-alives run over the EOBC.
