Hi,
I just installed NM-1T3/E3 in Cisco 3745. As my understanding, neither Cisco 3745 nor NM-1T3/E3 support OIR. So before i install the card, i power off the router. After i installed the card, i power on the router again. When I show ip int brief , i didnt see the card in the output. But when show diag, i saw the card was installed in slot 4. Can you anyone explain why this happened?
Thanks,
SAM

Hi Sam,
You have to configure the channel-group under the controller for the serial interface to appear in the show ip interface brief. (the serial interface appears dynamically just after you configure the channel-group)

Hi Mahammed,
Can you tell me how do configure the channel-group under the controller for the serial interface?
Thanks,

Hi SAM,
It should look something like this, but you'll need to consolidate the linecode, framing and time-slots with your provider:
controller e1
linecode {ami | hdb3}
framing {crc4 | no-crc4}
channel-group
After doing the above configuration, a serial interface with the same channel-number will be dynamically created, and its where you'll put the IPs and any other relevant configuration.
interface Serial
I hope that i've been informative.
