How do I find the interface index on a 6509

How do I find the interface index on a 6509?

SNMP ineterafce monitoring is not working and they are asking me to verify the index. I know I have seen it before but I can't seem to find it again.

Thanks,

Dave

Re: How do I find the interface index on a 6509

It is exactly what I am looking for but, my IOS is only 12.1.

It is quite possible I saw it on another device with a higher IOS.

Is there another way to get it?

Thanks.

Re: How do I find the interface index on a 6509

hi Dave, based on this doc this feature was intruduced in 12.2 and above, if you are in 12.1 this feature is not configured in the box you're trying to get this info.

And there is not other way to get it right? :)

I am going to see if I can figure out how the indexing gets the values if it is simple I may be able to isolate it.

Thanks

You should be able to snmpwalk it.

"snmpwalk ifname"

http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/477/SNMP/snmp_ifIndex40700.html

You can get snmpwalk from here:

http://net-snmp.sourceforge.net/download.html

The ifIndex OID and mib can be found here if you need it:

http://tools.cisco.com/Support/SNMP/do/BrowseOID.do?local=en&translate=true&objectInput=ifName
