I have a Cisco WS-C6513 switch, with a couple of GBIC module cards in it. I am trying to display the part number (or model number) of the modules which are inserted into this module card. Does anyone know how to do that? I don't want to schedule down-time to pull the module(s) - just to read the label! :-)
This shows me info for the "module card": sh module 9
But this doesn't work: sh module 9/6
Thanks,

Hi Steve,
The information given from the 'show inv raw"should led to the correct item reference (WS-G5484 - WS-G5486.....).
Here GBIC is 1000-Base-SX so reference is WS-G5484.
In case of SFP, it would be GLC-SX-MM ; GLC-LH...

=======
1000BaseSX works with Multimode fiber only, 1000Base LX/LH can work with SMF AND MMF...So I do not think it is possible to have information about the fiber mode used.
Otherwise with a Serial number and if the items contract are associated to your profile you can obtaine the reference through the Cisco Service contract Center (Search for Serial Number / PAK number) :
Best regards.

The closest that gets me is this ...
6513_Core_Switch#sh inv raw | include 9/5
NAME: "Gigabit Port Container 9/5", DESCR: "Gigabit Port Container"
NAME: "Gi9/5", DESCR: "1000BaseSX"
What I am trying to determine is if this module is a GLC-LH-SM, GLC-SX-MM, etc.
if I do this ...
6513_Core_Switch# show idprom interface gigabitEthernet 9/5
I know that is has an "SC" connector. But I still need to know if this is a single mode or multi-mode fiber module.

Thanks for the advice! That's what I needed to know. Strange that you can't actually see the part number of the installed module, but what I really needed to know was if that port is using a special module for single mode fiber. That does not appear to be the case.
Thanks again,
