Dear friends,

How do i enable standby console on the 4500?

This is what i get when i try to access the standby console.

HH_GF_SW2-standby-console#sh ver

Standby console disabled.
Valid commands are: exit, logout

QHH_GF_SW2-standby-console#

I am not able to enter any show commands. Basically i want to know the DRAM on the standby supervisor?

I know that in 6500, you have the command standby console enable under main-cpu but i dont get this here.

QHH_GF_SW2(config)#redundancy
QHH_GF_SW2(config-red)#main
QHH_GF_SW2(config-red)#main-cpu
QHH_GF_SW2(config-r-mc)#st
QHH_GF_SW2(config-r-mc)#st?
% Unrecognized command
QHH_GF_SW2(config-r-mc)#?
Main CPU redundancy configuration commands:
  auto-sync  Sync elements
default    Set a command to its defaults
exit       Exit from main-cpu configuration mode
no         Negate a command or set its defaults

QHH_GF_SW2(config-r-mc)#exit
QHH_GF_SW2(config-red)#exit
QHH_GF_SW2(config)#exit

I am using 4510-R-E with Sup 6-E and IOS version is 12.2(53)SG Enterprise services.

Thanks a lot

Regards

Gautam

Hi

Try using show bootvar / show redundancy command and check, else if you can afford a failover execute the command and check for the same.

Standby BOOT variable = bootflash:/cat4500e-entservicesk9-mz.122-53.SG.bin,12;
Standby CONFIG_FILE variable does not exist
