How to Configure Linksys Modem for DSL Line with Cisco 1861

Hello All Friend's,

We have just finish configuration on Cisco 1861 router, but i am unable to browse Internet from Cisco 1861, we have DSL line with Dynamic IP & our ISP is OPTUS  In Melbourne.


We have Physical connection as per below :


Internet provider (OPTUS)<---> Linksys Modem(AM300 & IP :192.168.1.1/24) <---> Cisco 1861 (LAN IP, 192.168.8.1) <---> Workstation (192.168.8.2 to 192.168.8.254),

But We can't access Internet from Cisco Device, I'm not sure about Linksys modem. Can anyone suggest me what configuration need to be done on Linksys for getting Internet from Cisco Device..

Please provide the router configuration. To be specifically, which interface on the 1861 connecting to the Linksys AM300?

In general, you need to assign the interface on the 1861 connecting to the Linksys AM300 on the IP subnet 192.168.1.0/24 (e.g. 192.168.1.2). Configure global command ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0.0 192.168.1.1 on the 1861.

Then, you go to Advanced Routing in the Linksys AM300. Define a static route with desitination IP address 192.168.8.0, subnet Mask 255.255.255.0, and Default Gateway 192.168.1.2.

I am very frusted from this issue, Please look on my running config, apart from this i have one question Which option should select on Linksys for configure it, there is more option like PPPoe, PPPoa, bridge etc. i hope my cisco config is good but realy i need help for setup Linksys

One simple mistake i could see is that you are having 2 different NAT overload statements and one attached to Fa0/0 which is not configured with any ip.

Try to remove that off from your config and refer the above link.

From the Linksys AM300 configuration, I suggest that you talk to your ISP. I am guessing that you should use RFC2516 PPPoE. At least, that' how my house works. I suggest that you simply connect a PC directly to the Linksys AM300. If the PC can access Internet, you proceed the followings.

From the router configuration, you configure PPPoE on the 1861. Normally, ATM interface is used for DSL interface in Cisco router. At least, that's how it works in US.  I do not see any ATM interface on the 1861. Thus, I assume that the dialer interface is redundent.

IRB is configured on the 1861. I do not think that you need that at all. NAT is not required on the 1861 because the Linksys AM300 should do NAT/PAT. You configure 192.168.1.2/24 on Fa 0/0. Remove subinterface fa 0/0.50 and fa 0/0.100. I attached the modified configuration.

I do not know enough on verifying the VPN and VOIP configuration.

I got two otion in Interface while configuring Static router on ADSL modem, LAN & WAN_Main, I selected LAN also I put 1 in cost option..
