I have a 4507 switch pair I've been using in the lab and now need to return them to factory defaults.
I can't seem to get rid of the VSL portion of the config though. The pair is no longer connected and I'm working from the serial console.
I have 'erase startup-config' on both and deleted all but the IOS image and license file from bootflash.
bootvar looks like this:
Switch#sho bootvar
BOOT variable = bootflash:cat4500e-universalk9.SPA.03.04.03.SG.151-2.SG3.bin,12;
CONFIG_FILE variable does not exist
BOOTLDR variable does not exist
Configuration register is 0x2102
Standby not ready to show bootvar
Switch#
And I see this message during boot on both switches.
****************** CAUTION *******************
* No VSL port is configured or all VSL ports *
* are put in shutdown state. *
* This may cause Dual-Active mode of VSS. *
**********************************************
Initializing as Virtual Switch ACTIVE processor
!!!
I have this remaining on the config too:
!
module provision switch 1
chassis-type 68 base-mac C067.AFE3.F2C0
slot 1 slot-type 399 base-mac C067.AF20.F220
slot 2 slot-type 399 base-mac C067.AF3D.6288
slot 3 slot-type 390 base-mac C067.AFE3.F2C0
!
module provision switch 2
!
and
!
module provision switch 1
!
module provision switch 2
chassis-type 68 base-mac 885A.92D1.4700
slot 1 slot-type 399 base-mac 885A.9268.D590
slot 2 slot-type 399 base-mac C067.AF3D.60A8
slot 3 slot-type 390 base-mac 885A.92D1.4700
!
It is a single supervisor 7E per chassis too.
What have I missed?
Thx,
Phil

Did you actually convert from VSS to stand alone before separating the switches?
switch convert mode ?

No, I did not convert before separating.
I will run the switch convert mode stand-alone on them both now.
Thanks!
